In the 1970s, Sol Menashe left his career as a consulting engineer and opened a retail bakery in Arizona with his wife Lucie. He harnessed his expertise in computer programming and designed a software program to help him manage his bakery. The software proved to be critical to the success and expansion of his bakery business. After opening two additional retail outlets and a large wholesale bakery, he decided to sell the bakeries and use the proceeds to start Datapax, Inc in 1985. Since the software was designed from scratch as a simple to use bakery management system, not developed from a tweaked database or accounting system, the software has tremendous flexibility. With suggestions from thousands of its users and his own bakery experience, Sol’s team has grown the system to be the versatile system it is today. The software contains a number of modules that are assembled and fully integrated to suit each specific client; this allows Datapax to support every type of bakery operation from mom and pop corner stores to large wholesalers and national chains.

The Datapax mission has been to make each bakery using its software a success story by continually advancing and improving its software technology and support. The goal is to make it easier and more cost-effective for bakeries to use computers to help move their businesses forward.
